Nicktoons Network

Nicktoons is an American digital cable and satellite television network owned by Viacom. It is a sister service of the Nickelodeon cable channel. The network broadcasts Nickelodeon's animated series, Nicktoons, along with other original animated series and foreign animation from other Nickelodeon networks overseas 24 hours a day. The slogan for the network is "Big Stars, Animated."

Nicktoons was launched on May 1, 2002 as Nicktoons TV as part of the digital cable-exclusive MTV Digital Suite in order to entice cable operators to pick up the network and give them a marketing advantage over satellite services. However, by early 2004, Nickelodeon management changed course and offered it to the digital satellite services DirecTV and Dish Network also, based on consumer demand.

At first, airing only archived Nicktoons, the network was marketed as commercial free, with comedic promos involving the Nickelodeon Animation Studios, two-minute cartoon shorts from foreign markets, and former program promotions which had previously been used on Nickelodeon taking up commercial time. As the network's distribution increased, by September 23, 2005, the network began airing regular advertising.   From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NICK JR.

Nick Jr. is the name of an American cable television channel owned by the MTV Networks subsidiary of Viacom. The channel was known as Noggin from its February 2, 1999 launch until September 28, 2009 at 6:00 AM (Eastern Time)/5:00 AM (Central Time).

Sister channel The N was relaunched as TeenNick at the same time as Noggin's relaunch as Nick Jr.; like with TeenNick, Nick Jr.'s name was taken from a former program block on parent channel Nickelodeon, which aired weekday mornings from 1988 to 2009 under the Nick Jr. name; and still survives today on Nickelodeon as a block known in promotions as Play Date, which has traditional commercial breaks and no common continuity between each series.

Nick Jr. is aimed at 2-6 year olds, and features a mix of originally-produced programming, and series previously and concurrently aired on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. block. It is the main competitor to Playhouse Disney or known as Disney Junior in most countries and PBS Kids in the United States and Canada.

The network's logo has been adjusted as part of a brand unification effort which saw all four of the Nickelodeon networks take on a unified look. Although the former motif of using an orange 'adult' figure and blue 'child' was discontinued in the new text-only logo, the tradition of 'Nick' being orange (representing the adult) and 'Jr.' remaining in blue (as the child) was retained.

As the channel's name suggests, TeenNick is primarily aimed at the 13-19 year old age demographic, and features a mix of originally-produced, off-network syndicated and Nickelodeon-produced programming.

The channel features a mix of children/teen shows which are aimed at children to early teen, which almost nothing unsuitable for kids viewing, such as iCarly (TV-G shows), and shows aimed at teen/adult, which feature suggestive dialogue (sex references) and language, such as Malcolm in the Middle (TV-PG/TV-14 shows). Since 2006, Nickelodeon has been run by MTVN Kids & Family Group President Cyma Zarghami.
